Artwork of Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander on Mars

Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander. Artwork of the Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander on the Martian surface. This probe is due for launch in April 2001. The small rover at lower right may also travel with the Lander, collecting rock samples. The Lander is designed primarily to check the potential health risks to any human explorers on Mars caused by exposure to the minerals on the surface. These include radiation, and fouling of systems by wind- borne dust particles. A robotic arm (centre) can collect soil samples, which will be tested to find their compatibility with human-made materials. The craft is powered by its large solar panels (blue)

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork showcases the Mars Surveyor 2001 Lander, a groundbreaking probe set to launch in April 2001. The image depicts the lander on the mysterious Martian surface, with a small rover positioned at its lower right. This rover is equipped to collect rock samples during its exploration mission alongside the lander. The primary objective of this pioneering spacecraft is to assess potential health risks for future human explorers on Mars. It aims to examine how exposure to minerals found on the planet's surface, such as radiation and wind-borne dust particles, could impact human well-being and system functionality. A remarkable robotic arm located at the center of the craft plays a crucial role in collecting soil samples for compatibility testing with human-made materials. Powering this advanced technology are large solar panels that gleam in an eye-catching blue hue against the backdrop of Mars' reddish landscape. The intricate details captured by Science Photo Library's artistry bring forth an awe-inspiring vision of what lies ahead for Martian exploration. As we gaze upon this mesmerizing scene, we can't help but imagine humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge and our unwavering determination to conquer new frontiers. This artwork serves as a testament to our boundless curiosity about distant worlds and our quest for understanding their secrets.
