Newquay boating lake, Trenance Gardens, Newquay, Cornwall. After 1939
A view of the boating lake with children in paddle boats on the lake and walkers in the garden. Trenance Viaduct can be seen in the background and houses on Trevemper Road can be seen on the right. The public gardens were created in 1906 with the boating lake added in 1932. The viaduct was built in 1874 to replace an older timber structure and widened from single to double track in 1939. 23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to the idyllic days of Newquay's Trenance Gardens, captured in this vintage photo print. The scene is set after 1939, where families and holidaymakers flock to enjoy the delights of this charming boating lake nestled amidst Cornwall's picturesque landscape. In this snapshot, children joyfully navigate paddle boats across the tranquil waters while walkers meander through the lush gardens. The enchanting Trenance Viaduct stands proudly in the background, a testament to its construction in 1874 as it spans over the River Gannel. Its transformation from a single-track structure to a double-track marvel in 1939 further enhanced connectivity for both locals and visitors alike. As our gaze drifts towards Trevemper Road on the right-hand side, we catch glimpses of quaint houses that have witnessed generations pass by. These public gardens were established back in 1906 but gained an additional allure with the addition of the boating lake in 1932 – providing endless hours of leisurely enjoyment for all who ventured here. This photograph transports us to simpler times when resort towns like Newquay offered respite from bustling city life. It encapsulates an era where green spaces merged seamlessly with seaside charm, creating an oasis for relaxation and recreation. With each passing year since this image was taken by an unknown photographer, Trenance Gardens continue to be cherished as a treasured piece of Cornish heritage – forever reminding us of carefree holidays spent basking
