17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the early 1900s transports us to a quaint corner of Fowey, Cornwall. The image captures a young girl sitting on weathered stone steps, her presence adding an air of innocence and curiosity to the scene. Behind her lies an open doorway, revealing a glimpse into the lives of those who dwell within. The houses beyond stand tall and sturdy, their walls adorned with vibrant creeper plants that add a touch of natural beauty to this charming setting. One intriguing detail in this photograph is the notice affixed to the wall above the young girl's head. It proudly displays the location of the Fowey branch of The Shipwrecked Fishermen & Mariners Royal Benevolent Society—a testament to both the maritime heritage and compassionate nature of this coastal community. The photographer responsible for capturing this timeless moment remains unknown, but their skill in framing such a picturesque composition is undeniable. Every element within this image tells its own story—the traditional Cornish buildings with their distinctive chimneys speak volumes about local architecture and history. As we gaze upon this remarkable print from Royal Cornwall Museum, we can't help but be transported back in time—to an era when life was simpler yet filled with its own unique challenges. This evocative snapshot serves as a reminder not only of our shared past but also highlights how organizations like The Shipwrecked Fishermen & Mariners Royal Benevolent Society played vital roles in supporting communities during times of hardship at sea.
