17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to a time of turmoil and destruction. The picture shows a grocery shop front, possibly located in Cardiff, Wales, which has suffered severe damage either due to neglect or the ravages of World War Two. Cardiff was heavily targeted during the war, enduring relentless bombings from 1940 until March 1944. This shop, with its shattered windows and crumbling facade, may have once been a bustling tobacconist and newsagents. Its weathered exterior bears advertisements for popular brands of that era such as Lyons Tea, Wills Star Cigarettes, and Wild Woodbine cigarettes. The image captures the essence of life amidst chaos - an anonymous reminder of the fortitude displayed by ordinary people during wartime. A broken door leans against the damaged building while a ladder rests against it; remnants left behind after countless repairs were attempted amid constant danger. The faded posters on the walls tell stories of resilience and survival in those challenging times. The atmosphere is moody yet evocative; it transports us to an era where every corner held memories etched by war's unforgiving hand. As we gaze upon this photograph taken around May 1st, 1944 - frozen in time - we are reminded not only of the devastation caused but also of humanity's ability to endure even in the face of adversity.
