Current car. This is the first electric car to go into production since World War II

Current car. This is the first electric car to go into production since World War II, and the Electricity Council have bought sixty-one Enfield 8000s for their employees. Its a two-seater with room for luggage or two small children behind. It will cover about fifty miles in average city traffic on one battery charge, cruises at 40 m.p.h. and has lively acceleration. Batteries can be re-charged by simply plugging in to one domestic 13-amp socket. The big problem is price. The cost is about £ 1, 000 which compares with £ 695 for a basic Mini. But Enfield Automotive hope to cut the price as production increases. February 1973 P018762

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Introducing the Current car, a groundbreaking innovation in the automotive industry. This remarkable vehicle marks the first electric car to be produced since World War II, revolutionizing transportation as we know it. The Electricity Council has recognized its potential and acquired sixty-one Enfield 8000s for their employees. This sleek two-seater boasts ample space for luggage or even two small children behind the front seats. With an impressive range of fifty miles in average city traffic on just one battery charge, this eco-friendly marvel cruises at a comfortable 40 mph with lively acceleration. Charging is a breeze - simply plug into any domestic 13-amp socket and watch your batteries come back to life. However, despite its many advantages, price remains a significant hurdle. At £1,000 compared to £695 for a basic Mini, affordability may pose challenges initially. Nevertheless, Enfield Automotive is determined to make electric cars accessible to all by reducing costs as production scales up. As we gaze upon this image captured in February 1973, we witness not only an extraordinary mode of transport but also glimpse into the future of sustainable mobility. Let us celebrate this milestone achievement that paves the way towards cleaner and greener transportation options for generations to come.
