Aston Martin Closes. Aston Martin, the firm that has made cars for Prince Charles
Aston Martin Closes. Aston Martin, the firm that has made cars for Prince Charles, the shah of Iran - and 007 agent James Bond, is going bust. The men who make the smooth and speedy cars - 500 of Britains most highly-skilled coach-builders and motor engineers - were told, on Monday " You are no longer employed, as from this moment." Giving the chilling message to the workers employed at the factory in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, was managing director Charles Warden. The Astion Martin Lagonda production line at Newport Pagnell, with cars which may never be completed. December 1974 P018807

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a somber moment in automotive history. Aston Martin, renowned for crafting luxurious cars fit for royalty and secret agents alike, is facing its darkest hour. The iconic British car manufacturer has fallen on hard times, forcing the closure of its esteemed factory in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. In this poignant image from December 1974, we witness the aftermath of devastating news delivered to 500 highly skilled coach-builders and motor engineers. Managing director Charles Warden delivers an icy message that reverberates through the halls: "You are no longer employed, as from this moment". The faces of these talented individuals reflect shock and uncertainty as they come to terms with their sudden unemployment. The production line at Newport Pagnell stands eerily still, adorned with partially completed Aston Martins that may never see completion. It serves as a haunting reminder of dashed dreams and lost craftsmanship. Aston Martin's legacy stretches far beyond mere transportation; it represents elegance, power, and sophistication. From Prince Charles to the Shah of Iran and even James Bond himself - all have reveled in the allure of these magnificent vehicles. Yet now, financial turmoil threatens to extinguish this illustrious brand forever. As we gaze upon this photograph today, let us remember not only the beauty captured within those sleek lines but also the dedicated artisans who poured their hearts into creating these masterpieces. Their story serves as a testament to both triumphs achieved and challenges faced by one of Britain's most cherished automobile manufacturers.
