23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, a wigmaker carefully crafts a new wig for the legal profession in his full and cluttered workroom at Temple, London, in 1910. The artisan, dressed in a simple white shirt and apron, focuses intently on his work bench as he shapes and forms the plush fabric with skilled dexterity. The wig, in its early stages, is held in place on a stand, its bottomed edges curling upwards as the wigmaker meticulously trims and molds it to perfection. The atmosphere in the workshop is one of quiet concentration and dedication, with the soft light filtering in through the windows casting long shadows across the room. The walls are adorned with various wigs in various stages of completion, while accessories such as judges' robes and other legal attire are neatly arranged on shelves and hooks. The room is a testament to the rich history and tradition of wigmaking, a trade that has been an essential part of the legal profession for centuries. The wigmaker's tools of the trade are spread out before him, including scissors, brushes, and other implements, all carefully arranged within easy reach. The intricacy and attention to detail required to create these wigs is evident in the wigmaker's focused expression and the precision of his movements. The final product will be a full and ornate wig, complete with the distinctive curled edges and tall, pointed crown that have become synonymous with the legal profession. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of wigmaking, a trade that continues to be an important part of the legal community to this day. The image captures the dedication and skill of the artisan, as well as the rich history and tradition that surrounds this unique and intriguing craft.
