23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the unique blend of maritime history and literary culture that once existed aboard a WWI warship. Dating back to the 1910s, this image offers a fascinating glimpse into the daily life of sailors at sea during wartime. The central focus of the photograph is the warship's bookshop and tobacconist, a small but essential establishment that catered to the recreational needs of the crew. The bookshop, with its neatly stacked shelves and inviting display window, would have offered a welcome respite from the rigors of naval life. Sailors could peruse the latest novels, newspapers, and magazines, perhaps seeking solace in the pages of a good book or engaging in lively debates over current events. The tobacconist's counter, with its array of tobacco tins and pipes, would have been a popular destination for those seeking a moment of relaxation with a pipe or a roll-up. The photograph also reveals the intricacies of life aboard a warship, with the ship's rigging and gun turrets visible in the background. The crew members, dressed in their uniforms, can be seen milling about, adding to the sense of activity and purpose. The scene is further enlivened by the presence of a dog, which seems to be enjoying the attention of one of the sailors. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the human side of war, where even in the midst of conflict, the simple pleasures of reading and smoking could provide moments of comfort and connection for the men and women who served on the front lines.
