17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
A Charming Depiction of a Waxwing (Bombylla garrulus), also Known as Morris, from the Year 1851 This exquisite print, featuring the vibrant and captivating Waxwing or Morris (Bombylla garrulus), hails from the annals of ornithological history, dating back to the year 1851. The image, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail and artistic mastery of the time, was captured by an unidentified artist and published by Mary Evans, a renowned print seller and distributor in London. The Waxwing, a member of the Bombycillidae family, is renowned for its distinctive appearance. The bird's plumage boasts a striking combination of warm, rich tones, with a rusty-red crown, black mask, and a vibrant, wax-like red wax tip on each wing feather, giving it its namesake. The bird's beak is short, curved, and dark, and its eyes are bright and expressive. This print offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, providing a window into the natural world as it was understood during the mid-19th century. The intricate details of the Waxwing's feathers, the delicate shading, and the lifelike quality of the image all serve to transport us back in time, allowing us to appreciate the beauty and wonder of this remarkable species as it was captured over 170 years ago. The Waxwing, or Morris, is a migratory bird that can be found in the northern hemisphere, particularly in Europe, Asia, and North America.
