17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving depicts the Submission of Sayri Tupac, the last Inca monarch of Cusco, to Don Hurtado de Mendoza, the 3rd Marquis of Canete and Viceroy of Peru, in 1571. The image, created in 1807, is a vivid testament to the colonial history of the Andes region during the Spanish conquest. Sayri Tupac, the last legitimate Inca ruler, is shown humbly submitting to the Spanish conqueror, symbolizing the end of the Inca Empire. The Inca king is dressed in traditional attire, with a royal headdress adorned with feathers and precious stones. Don Hurtado de Mendoza, wearing the insignia of his rank, stands tall and proud, embodying the power and authority of the Spanish crown. The engraving, colored in rich hues, captures the grandeur and solemnity of the moment. The intricate details of the clothing, the expressions on the faces of the characters, and the ornate background all contribute to the visual impact of the print. This document is a significant historical artifact, providing a visual representation of the complex and tumultuous relationship between the Inca civilization and the Spanish conquistadors. It is a poignant reminder of the profound cultural shifts that took place during the colonial period, as the Inca Empire was absorbed into the expanding Spanish Empire. The Submission of Sayri Tupac is a valuable addition to any collection of colonial-era documents and a testament to the rich history of the Andes region. It is a visual narrative of the past, offering insights into the lives of the people who lived during the 16th and 17th centuries and the forces that shaped their world.
