17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park, London, 1892: A Historical Moment of Free Speech and Debate This evocative illustration captures the spirit of Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park on a Sunday afternoon in 1892. The socialist speaker, dressed in a simple working-class outfit, passionately addresses an engaged audience, while a heckler, depicted as a pachydermatous figure, listens unimpressed. The original caption, "Socialism in London: A Sketch in Hyde Park on Sunday Afternoon. Its no good arguing with you; you're too pachydermatous to see anything," adds to the lively scene. Speakers' Corner, located in the heart of London's Hyde Park, has a rich history as a platform for free speech and debate. Established in 1872, it has been a popular destination for political activists, religious preachers, and anyone seeking to express their opinions to the public. The scene depicted in this illustration reflects the vibrant and often contentious atmosphere that characterized Speakers' Corner during this period. The socialist speaker's fervor and determination to spread his message, despite the heckler's dismissive attitude, symbolizes the passion and commitment of the socialist movement in late-Victorian England. The illustration offers a glimpse into the past, reminding us of the importance of free speech and the power of public discourse in shaping the political and social landscape of a city and a nation.
