Mount Pleasant Hotel, Kings Cross, London

The Mount Pleasant Hotel at the corner of King's Cross Road and Calthorpe Street, Central London. The building was originally erected in 1894 as one of London's six Rowton Houses - large, purpose built, low cost hostels or doss houses for working men. They were established by Lord Rowton (Montagu William Lowry Corry, 1838-1903)

Lady Laverys sitting room

A corner of a room belonging to Hazel, Lady Lavery, wife of the society portrait painter, Sir John Lavery. Hazel was strongly connected with Ireland and the room showing her interest in Irish industries. The table cloth pictured is of Old Bleach Linen.
