23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures a group of indigenous Zulu children and adults at a mission station in Natal, South Africa, circa 1909. The mission, a hub of Christian education and community, was established during the late 19th century as part of a larger effort to spread Christianity and Western influence throughout the region. The children, dressed in simple clothing and adorned with traditional beadwork, are seated on the ground, while the adults stand behind them. The missionary, likely a white European woman named Christina, is shown in the foreground, her back to the camera as she engages with the group. She holds a book in her hands, perhaps teaching a lesson or leading a prayer. The mission station, with its red-roofed buildings and neatly tended gardens, is situated in the lush, green landscape of Natal province. The surrounding hills and trees provide a picturesque backdrop to the scene, but also serve as a reminder of the vast, untamed wilderness that surrounded these communities. The arrival of European missionaries in Natal marked a significant moment in the history of the region. While the introduction of Christianity and Western education brought new opportunities and possibilities, it also disrupted traditional ways of life and led to complex and often contentious interactions between indigenous peoples and European settlers. Despite the challenges, the mission stations played an important role in the development of communities in Natal and other parts of South Africa. They provided a space for education, healthcare, and spiritual growth, and helped to foster a sense of connection and solidarity among indigenous peoples in the face of broader societal changes.
