Floor Boards Shearing Sheep Textiles Wool
23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to the 19th century Australian outback, where the bustling industry of sheep shearing was in full swing. In this evocative photograph from Mary Evans Prints Online, we witness the meticulous process of shearing a flock of sheep on a rustic, wooden floor. The scene exudes a sense of community and collaboration, as men work together to shear the sheep efficiently and humanely. The sheep, some with their eyes closed in relaxation, are expertly maneuvered by their shepherds, while others look on with curiosity. The importance of sheep farming and wool production in Australia during the 19th century cannot be overstated. The country's vast expanses of land and favorable climate made it an ideal location for raising large herds of sheep, which in turn fueled the growth of the wool textile industry, both domestically and internationally. The high-quality wool produced in Australia was in great demand, making it a significant contributor to the Australian economy. The floor boards beneath the shearers' feet bear the marks of countless sheep that have passed through this very spot, a testament to the rich history of this essential industry. The scene is a snapshot of a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the daily life of rural Australia during a time when sheep shearing was a vital part of the national identity.
