17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the excitement and innovation of the Schneider Trophy competition held at Calshot Spit, England in 1929. The Schneider Trophy, also known as the Coupe Aviation Maritime Jacques Schneider, was an annual (later biannual) air race for seaplanes and flying boats, named after its founder, Jacques Schneider. The event, which began in 1913, aimed to promote the development of seaplanes and flying boats for long-distance travel and military use. In this image, we see the moment of triumph for British pilot Richard Waghorn as he crosses the finish line in the Supermarine S.6, a sleek and advanced seaplane designed by R.J. Mitchell. The Supermarine S.6 set a new world seaplane speed record of 227.75 miles per hour, making Waghorn the winner of the 1929 Schneider Trophy. The United Kingdom would go on to dominate the competition for several years, with the Supermarine S.6B setting the absolute seaplane speed record of 318.4 mph in 1931. Calshot Spit, located in the Solent, provided an ideal location for the Schneider Trophy races due to its sheltered waters and consistent winds. The event drew thousands of spectators each year, who came to witness the thrilling displays of speed and skill. The Schneider Trophy competition played a significant role in the advancement of aviation technology, pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible in aircraft design and engineering.
