23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Once upon a time in 1904, the timeless tale of Little Red Riding Hood took on a new form as a photographic reconstruction, bringing the classic fairy story to life in a startlingly realistic way. This haunting postcard image from Mary Evans Picture Library captures the moment of truth in the story, as the cunning wolf, with piercing amber eyes and bared teeth, devours the unsuspecting Red Riding Hood. Dressed in her signature red hood and cape, the young girl's expression is one of terror and surprise, frozen in time as the jaws of the wolf close around her. Historically, the story of Little Red Riding Hood has its origins in oral folklore, with the first written version appearing in Charles Perrault's "Tales of Mother Goose" in 1697. Over the centuries, the tale has been retold and reimagined in countless ways, from illustrated books to ballet and opera. But this photographic reconstruction, produced over a century ago, offers a unique perspective on the story, blending the magic of fairy tales with the innovation of early photographic technology. The intricate details of the scene are brought to life through the use of props, costumes, and expert lighting, creating an eerie and captivating tableau. The rich reds of Red Riding Hood's hood and cape contrast sharply with the wolf's dark fur and the muted tones of the forest background, drawing the viewer's eye to the heart of the action. This postcard is not only a fascinating glimpse into the history of photographic storytelling, but also a reminder of the enduring power of the stories we tell ourselves, and the ways in which they continue to shape our imaginations.
