17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this striking photograph, Princess Elizabeth of the United Kingdom is seen in the uniform of the Auxiliary Territorial Services (A.T.S.) towards the close of the Second World War. The future monarch joined the women's auxiliary military organization in 1945, following a full course of training, and became a motor mechanic. The image captures a determined and focused young woman, ready to contribute her skills and efforts to the war effort. Princess Elizabeth came of age in 1944, and as the war drew to a close, she began to make solo public appearances, signaling her growing role as the future queen. The A.T.S. was an essential component of the British military during World War II, providing vital support services to the armed forces. Women's participation in the military was a significant shift from traditional gender roles, and the Princess's enlistment was a powerful symbol of the times. This photograph, taken in the early 1950s, captures a pivotal moment in the life of a future monarch, as she demonstrated her commitment to her country and its people during a time of great upheaval and change. The image serves as a reminder of the important role women played in the war effort and the evolution of the monarchy. The Princess Elizabeth's service in the A.T.S. is an inspiring example of duty, courage, and determination, and this photograph stands as a testament to her remarkable journey from a young woman in uniform to the beloved and revered Queen Elizabeth II.
