23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, titled "Owen Jones Celtic 63," is a visual feast for those intrigued by the rich history and artistic beauty of Scotland's ancient churchyards. The image, from the extensive collection of Mary Evans Picture Library, transports us back in time to the 1868 era, capturing the intricate details of various stone crosses and ornaments that once adorned the gravesites of Scotland's past. Owen Jones, a renowned architect and designer, is believed to have been the inspiration behind this collection. Jones was known for his innovative use of geometric patterns and interlocking designs, which can be seen in the intricate carvings on the stone crosses and decorative elements in this photograph. The circular arrangement of the crosses and ornaments in the image adds to the sense of unity and continuity, reflecting the interconnectedness of life and death in the Scottish community during that era. The square format of the photograph provides a perfect frame for the intricate details of the stone crosses, allowing us to appreciate their artistry up close. The geometrical patterns and interlocking designs on the crosses are remnants of the Celtic tradition, which heavily influenced early Christian art in Scotland. The intricate carvings on the stones, including interlaced knots, spirals, and intricate patterns, showcase the skill and creativity of the craftsmen who carved them.
