23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph from 1925, the legendary British boxer, Dick Smith (1886-1950), is seen sharing a moment with two young boxing prodigies at the Stable Lads Annual Tournament. The image, captured during the Roaring Twenties, offers a captivating glimpse into the world of boxing during this era. Dick Smith, a formidable figure in the ring, held the British Light Heavyweight title from 1911 to 1913 and challenged for the Heavyweight Championship of the World in 1913. His impressive boxing career spanned over two decades, and he retired in 1921. Here, he is shown in a more compassionate and nurturing role, mentoring the next generation of boxers. The two young boys, dressed in boxing gear and wearing determined expressions, appear focused and eager to learn from the master. The setting of the Stable Lads Annual Tournament adds an extra layer of intrigue to the scene. The tournament, organized for the children of stable hands and farm laborers, provided an opportunity for these young boys to experience the thrill of competition and learn valuable life skills. This photograph, taken in 1925, is a poignant reminder of the enduring appeal and transformative power of boxing. It captures the spirit of camaraderie, determination, and the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next. The image is a testament to the resilience and grit of these young boxers, who, like Dick Smith before them, were determined to make their mark in the world of boxing.
