23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the moment of inspection by German forces on the wreckage of a crashed Curtiss H75 C.1, a military aircraft better known by its Curtiss designation as the Hawk 75A-1. The H75 C.1 was roughly equivalent to the P-36A Mohawk, an American-built fighter that saw extensive use in the early years of World War II. However, the H75 C.1 featured some equipment differences that set it apart from its Mohawk counterpart. The date of this image is 1940, a pivotal year in the war where the tide began to turn in favor of the Axis powers. The Curtiss H75 C.1, with its distinctive curved wings and streamlined fuselage, lies crashed in the foreground, its once gleaming surface marred by the impact of the crash. The German soldiers, dressed in their uniforms and armed with tools, surround the wreckage, meticulously examining the damaged components. The Curtiss H75 C.1 was a formidable aircraft in its time, capable of reaching speeds of over 300 miles per hour and armed with six machine guns. Its advanced design and powerful engine made it a valuable asset to any air force. However, like all aircraft, it was not immune to the risks of flight. This image serves as a reminder of the dangers and uncertainties of early aviation and the importance of understanding the technology of the time. The Peter Butt Aviation Collection, from which this photograph is taken, is a renowned archive of aviation history. It offers a unique perspective on the evolution of flight and the role that aircraft played in shaping the course of the 20th century. This image, in particular, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, providing a glimpse into the world of military aviation during wartime and the complex interplay of technology, strategy, and human ingenuity.
