17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative image captures a moment in time from the year 1494, depicting a group of West Indian pearl fishers as they dive into the crystal-clear waters in search of the precious pearls that lay hidden within. The scene takes place amidst a backdrop of larger, majestic galley ships anchored in the distance, their sails unfurled against the azure sky. The West Indians, dressed in simple loincloths, are seen swimming and diving from their small boats, their determined expressions focused on the task at hand. On the land behind, a group of Westerners, likely sailors and traders, gather to observe the pearl divers and prepare to engage in trade for the valuable pearls. The exchange of goods between the two groups is a testament to the interconnectedness of the world during this era of exploration and discovery. The waters teem with life, and the vibrant colors of the coral reefs and schools of fish are reflected in the calm surface. The scene is one of both beauty and industry, as the pearl fishers work tirelessly to provide for their communities and satisfy the demand for these precious gems in the wider world. This photograph, taken from Mary Evans Prints Online, offers a glimpse into the past and the rich cultural exchange that took place between different groups during the colonial era. It is a reminder of the importance of the sea and its resources in shaping the history of the world and the lives of those who lived on its shores.
