17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this striking portrait, HRH Prince George, Duke of Kent (1902-1942) is depicted in formal attire, exuding an air of intelligence and sophistication. The Duke, who was the fourth son of King George V and Queen Mary, pursued a military education but chose an unconventional path by becoming the first member of the Royal Family to work for the Civil Service. Prince George was renowned for his intellectual prowess and was often considered the most intelligent of his siblings. In 1938, he married Princess Marina of Greece, with whom he had three children. Their union brought a sense of modernity to the British monarchy, as Marina was a Greek princess and the couple's children were the first British royals to be born with dual nationality. The portrait was painted by renowned British artist Cyril Roberts (1888-1966) in 1924. Roberts was granted special sittings by The Sphere, a popular British magazine, to create this masterpiece. The artist's skillfully rendered brushstrokes capture the Duke's penetrating gaze and the subtle textures of his uniform. Tragically, the outbreak of World War II prevented Prince George from taking up the post of Governor-General of Australia. He was later killed on active service when his Sunderland boat plane, en route to Iceland, crashed into a mountainside in Northern Scotland in 1942. This poignant portrait serves as a poignant reminder of a life cut short and a testament to the artistic talent of Cyril Roberts.
