23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step right up and prepare for an unforgettable experience at the Monkey House of London Zoo! This photograph from the early 1900s transports us back in time, as we witness a crowd of fascinated onlookers gathered around the entrance of this intriguing exhibit. The Monkey House, a popular attraction during the Edwardian era, was home to a variety of primates, including the playful and mischievous monkeys that can be seen peering curiously through their cage bars in this image. The Monkey House was a must-visit destination for both children and adults alike, who were drawn to the exotic allure of these agile and intelligent creatures. As visitors eagerly awaited their turn to get a closer look, they were greeted by a series of signs and notices, warning them of the antics of the monkeys and the presence of pickpockets in the area. Despite these warnings, the excitement and wonder of the Monkey House shone through, as evidenced by the delighted expressions on the faces of the people in this photograph. Many visitors donned their finest Edwardian attire, complete with glasses and spectacles, to fully immerse themselves in the experience. The Monkey House, a testament to the enduring appeal of zoos and their role in showcasing the natural world, continues to captivate and inspire visitors to this day. This photograph serves as a fascinating glimpse into the past, offering a unique perspective on the role of zoos in society during the early 1900s.
