23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisitely hand-colored copperplate engraving, created by Plee Jr. after an original illustration by Jean-Gabriel Pretre, showcases three vibrant and intricately patterned reef fish: the Moorish Idol, Grey Angelfish, and Rock Beauty. The Moorish Idol, scientifically known as Zanclus cornutus, is depicted in the center of the image. Its elongated body is adorned with a striking, golden-yellow coloration, with iridescent blue and green markings along its sides. The Moorish Idol is a popular reef fish, known for its graceful movements and playful behavior. To the left of the Moorish Idol, the Grey Angelfish, Pomacanthus arcuatus, can be seen. This fish boasts a beautiful, silver-grey body with distinctive, horizontal black and white stripes. Its dorsal and anal fins are a striking blue color, adding to its captivating appearance. The Grey Angelfish is a large, powerful fish that is a vital part of the coral reef ecosystem. On the right side of the engraving, the Rock Beauty, Holacanthus tricolor, is depicted. This small, colorful fish is characterized by its triangular, blue-green body, which is adorned with bright orange and yellow markings. The Rock Beauty is a popular reef fish, known for its vibrant colors and striking appearance. This stunning engraving is taken from Bernard Germain de Lacepede's Natural History of Oviparous Quadrupeds, Snakes, Fish and Cetaceans, published in Paris in 1825. The intricate details and vivid colors of this engraving provide a fascinating glimpse into the natural world of the past, showcasing the beauty and diversity of marine life.
