Cornutus is a genus of bats belonging to the family Rhinolophidae, and are small to medium-sized mammals, with a wingspan ranging from 7.5 to 13 cm and a body length of 3.5 to 5 cm. They have large ears, long snouts and short tails. The fur is usually grey or brown in color, and they have distinctive white spots on their faces and backs and can found in tropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia and South America. They feed mainly on insects such as moths, beetles and flies which they catch by using echolocation while flying at night. During the day they roost in caves or crevices near water sources where they can hide from predators like birds of prey or snakes and can important for controlling insect populations in their habitats but unfortunately their numbers are declining due to habitat destruction caused by human activities such as deforestation and urbanization
