EDITORS COMMENTS
This coloured engraving, titled "The Eared or Horned Dobchick, 1749-73" showcases the remarkable artistry of George Edwards and Michael Seligmann. Originally engraved by Edwards in his renowned works on uncommon birds, this particular print has been re-engraved by Seligmann and combined with Catesby's work on Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands. The image depicts a stunning bird known as the Eared or Horned Dobchick (Colymbus auritus et cornutus minor canadensis). With its vibrant plumage and distinctive features, this avian beauty is a testament to nature's diversity.
