17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Jimson Weed, Datura stramonium: A Fascinating and Cautionary Botanical Curiosity This stunning chromolithograph depicts Jimson Weed, Datura stramonium, a captivating and intriguing plant that has fascinated botanists, naturalists, and folklore for centuries. Originally illustrated by Walther Müller for Hermann Adolph Koehler's Medicinal Plants, edited by Gustav Pabst in 1887, this image showcases the plant's unique beauty and complexity. Datura stramonium, commonly known as Jimson weed, thornapple, or moonflower, is a night-blooming herbaceous plant native to the eastern United States, Central America, and the Mediterranean. Its distinctive features include large, bell-shaped, fragrant flowers that open at night, and long, spiny stems and leaves. Jimson weed has a rich history in various cultures, both for its medicinal properties and its potential toxicity. Indigenous peoples in the Americas have used it for various purposes, including treating wounds, inducing hallucinations, and as a sedative. However, ingesting the plant can lead to severe poisoning, with symptoms including delirium, hallucinations, and even death. The plant's toxicity comes from the alkaloids scopolamine and hyoscyamine, which can cause anticholinergic effects, such as dry mouth, dilated pupils, and increased heart rate. These alkaloids have also been used in modern medicine for their therapeutic properties, particularly in treating motion sickness and gastrointestinal disorders. Despite its potential dangers, Jimson weed continues to captivate and intrigue, with its striking appearance and fascinating history. This beautiful chromolithograph serves as a testament to the plant's enduring allure and the importance of continued exploration and understanding of the natural world.
