23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this exquisite handcoloured copperplate engraving from Rudolph Ackermann's Repository of Arts, published in London in 1816, we are transported back in time to a grand sledge party in Vienna during the winter of 1815. The imperial sledge or sleigh, a symbol of opulence and grandeur, is depicted here being used by the Emperors of Austria and Russia. The sleigh, with its Phaeton carriage design, boasts elaborate gilt work and is upholstered in rich green velvet and gold. The scene unfolds before a stately home, reminiscent of the Regency era, with its symmetrical architecture and trellis adorned verandah. The garden, with its intricately designed topiary and manicured lawn, provides a picturesque backdrop to the festivities. The elevation of the building, with its tall columns and arched windows, exudes an air of sophistication and elegance. The sledge party was a popular pastime among the aristocracy and landed gentry during the winter months in Europe. The image captures the excitement and joy of the occasion, with the imperial sledge gliding effortlessly over the snow-covered ground, surrounded by the laughter and chatter of the revelers. The handcoloured engraving, with its meticulous attention to detail, offers a glimpse into the grandeur and splendour of the Regency era, a time when such extravagant displays of wealth and power were the norm. This beautiful artwork is a testament to the enduring allure of the past and the continued fascination with the lifestyles of the aristocracy and the landed gentry.
