23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite hand-colored copperplate engraving showcases the enchanting beauty of Hessea cinnamomea, also known as the Glittering-flowered Strumaria or Crisp Strumaria. The intricate details of this rare and exotic bulbous plant were meticulously captured by the skilled hand of engraver F. Sansom, working from an original illustration by Sydenham Edwards. The image was published in William Curtis' esteemed publication, The Botanical Magazine, in London, in the year 1811. The Hessea cinnamomea is a fascinating member of the Amaryllidaceae family, characterized by its glittering, crimson-red flowers adorned with golden-yellow anthers. The plant's unique appearance has captivated botanists and horticulturists for centuries, making it a sought-after addition to any botanical collection. The intricate details of the plant's structure are brought to life through the artful combination of botanical accuracy and artistic flair. The delicate veins on the leaves, the intricate patterns on the flowers, and the subtle shading on the bulb all contribute to the overall sense of depth and realism. The hand-coloring process further enhances the visual appeal of the engraving, adding vibrant hues to the already stunning details. The rich reds of the flowers, the deep greens of the leaves, and the warm browns of the bulb all come together to create a truly captivating image. This beautiful work of art serves as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the botanical illustrators and engravers of the past, who worked tirelessly to document and preserve the natural world for future generations. Today, it remains an invaluable resource for botanical research and a source of inspiration for artists and gardeners alike.
