23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
18th Century Street Lamps: A Journey Through Time This collection showcases three exquisite examples of 18th century street lamps, each a testament to the intricate craftsmanship and innovative design of the era. The first lamp (A), dating back to 1735, is an early representation of the street lanterns that would come to define the 18th century. Its elegant ironwork, adorned with delicate floral motifs, exudes an air of refinement. The lantern's design, with its curved arms and rounded base, is a beautiful example of the Baroque style that dominated the early 18th century. Moving forward, the second lamp (B) dates from 1709, making it an even earlier specimen. Its design is more understated compared to the one from 1735, with simple lines and a more rectangular base. However, its intricate wrought ironwork, featuring interlaced patterns and delicate scrolls, is a testament to the skill and artistry of the metalworkers of the time. Lastly, the late 18th century lamps (C/D) represent the evolution of street lighting towards the end of the century. With their tall, slender design and ornate lanterns, these lamps are a clear departure from the earlier, more compact designs. The use of ironwork in the form of intricate scrolls and geometric patterns adds to their visual appeal, making them a fitting conclusion to our journey through 18th century street lamps. These lamps not only serve as functional objects but also as historical artifacts that offer a glimpse into the design aesthetics and technological advancements of the 18th century. They are a reminder of the importance of preserving our past, as we continue to be inspired by the beauty and ingenuity of the past. This collection of 18th century street lamps is a must-see for anyone with an interest in history, design, or the evolution of lighting technology. Each lamp is a unique piece of history, waiting to be explored and appreciated.
