17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This powerful and evocative image captures Geronimo (Goyathlay), the legendary Chiricahua Apache leader who led a sensational campaign against the encroaching white settlers in the American Southwest from 1885 to 1886. Born around 1829, Geronimo's Indian name translates to 'the one who yawns,' a name that belies the fierce determination and unyielding spirit he displayed throughout his life. Geronimo's resistance against the US military began in earnest in 1850, when he joined the Chiricahua Apache resistance against Mexican and later American expansion into their lands. Over the years, Geronimo and his band were involved in numerous skirmishes and raids against the US Army, earning a reputation as one of the most elusive and formidable Native American leaders. Despite his legendary status, Geronimo was eventually captured in 1886 and forced to surrender, bringing an end to the Chiricahua resistance. He spent the remainder of his life in exile, first at Fort Marion in Florida, and later in Oklahoma. Geronimo died in 1909, having lived through a tumultuous and transformative period in American history. This photograph, taken during Geronimo's later years, captures the intensity and resilience of a man who refused to be subdued, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. Geronimo's story is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Native American people and their ongoing struggle for sovereignty and recognition.
