17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Mrs. O.H.P. Belmont, née Alva Erskine Smith, also known as Alva Vanderbilt from 1875 to 1896, is depicted in this striking portrait from 1912. Born on January 17, 1853, Alva was a prominent American socialite and a major figure in the women's suffrage movement. She was the mother of Consuelo Vanderbilt, Duchess of Marlborough. Alva's life was marked by wealth, scandal, and social influence. She was the wife of Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont, a wealthy businessman and politician, and later married the Duke of Marlborough. Her first marriage to Belmont ended in a highly publicized divorce in 1896, which was a scandal at the time. Despite her personal dramas, Alva remained a force to be reckoned with in society and politics. She was a passionate advocate for women's suffrage and played a significant role in the movement. She used her social connections and influence to raise awareness and funds for the cause. In this portrait, Alva is shown wearing a elegant and sophisticated outfit, with a serious expression on her face. Her dark hair is styled in an elegant updo, and she wears pearls and other fine jewelry. The background is simple, with a plain wall and a small table and vase in the foreground. The photograph is a testament to Alva's enduring influence and her status as a prominent figure in American society during the early 20th century. Her legacy as a socialite and suffragette continues to be celebrated today.
