23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This black and white caricature, created by the renowned British artist Glan Williams, depicts Mrs Gerald Legge, nee Raine McCorquodale, in the height of 1950s society elegance. At the time of this portrait, Mrs Legge was married to the Honorable Gerald Humphrey Legge, Viscount Lewisham and later, the 9th Earl of Dartmouth. The daughter of the prolific romance novelist Barbara Cartland and stepmother to Diana, Princess of Wales, Mrs Legge was a prominent socialite and politician in her own right. Born in 1929, Raine McCorquodale's marriage to the Earl marked her third union. Her first marriage to the Hon. Derek Holcroft ended in divorce, while her second marriage to the Hon. John Aspinall produced three children. The caricature captures her youthful beauty and the grace that defined her presence in high society circles. Glan Williams, a master of the caricature art form, expertly rendered the details of Mrs Legge's elegant attire, from her chic hat to her fashionable gloves. The artist's deft touch brings to life the playful and lighthearted spirit that lies beneath the polished exterior of this intriguing historical figure. This portrait offers a glimpse into the world of British high society in the mid-20th century, a time of glamour, elegance, and intrigue. The image serves as a testament to the enduring allure of the past and the captivating stories that lie within the annals of history.
