1754 1827 Antiquary Biographer Churchman Mark Noble Rector

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative portrait captures the scholarly and contemplative nature of the Reverend Mark Noble (1754-1827). Noble was a prominent Churchman, serving as the Rector of Barming in Kent, England, during a time when the Anglican Church underwent significant changes. His dedication to his faith and community is evident in his long and distinguished career. Beyond his religious duties, Noble was also an accomplished biographer and antiquary. He dedicated much of his time to the study and preservation of local history, leaving a rich legacy of knowledge about the people and places of Barming and its surrounding areas. His works, which include biographies of notable local figures and historical accounts of Kent, continue to be valued by scholars and historians today. The image of Noble, with his serious expression and deep-set eyes, conveys a sense of wisdom and introspection. His attire, consisting of a black robe and white collar, signifies his status as a clergyman. The intricately patterned wallpaper and ornate fireplace in the background add to the sense of history and tradition, further emphasizing Noble's role as a keeper of the past. Noble's contributions to the fields of biography and antiquarianism were not limited to his written works. He was also an active member of various learned societies, including the Society of Antiquaries of London, and played a key role in the preservation of historical records and artifacts. His commitment to the study and documentation of history served to enrich the cultural heritage of his community and left a lasting impact on the field. This portrait, with its striking composition and historical significance, offers a glimpse into the life and work of a remarkable man who dedicated himself to the pursuit of knowledge and the preservation of history. The image serves as a testament to Noble's enduring legacy and the importance of the study of history in understanding our past and shaping our future.
