Aldeburgh Festival Harewood Lascelles

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph, Lord Harewood, the esteemed British patron of the arts and music lover, shares a special moment with his young son, David, as they explore the program for the 1963 Aldeburgh Festival. The image, captured in the 1960s, offers a glimpse into the rich history of this renowned classical music event and the deep connection between Lord Harewood and the cultural scene of the time. Lord Harewood, born in 1929 as David George Lascelles, was a prominent figure in British society and a dedicated supporter of music and the arts. He served as the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and the Master of the Queen's Music, and was a close friend and collaborator of Benjamin Britten, the founder of the Aldeburgh Festival. The Aldeburgh Festival, established in 1948, is a prestigious annual classical music event held in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Lord Harewood's involvement with the festival began in its early days, and he continued to support it throughout his life. In this photograph, he is seen sharing his passion for music with his young son, David, as they leaf through the program for the 1963 festival. The image transports us back to the 1960s, a time of cultural and artistic innovation, and highlights the importance of intergenerational connections in the world of classical music. The father-son duo's attire, with Lord Harewood wearing a formal suit and David in a neat sweater and trousers, adds to the sense of tradition and elegance surrounding the event. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of Lord Harewood and his role in the history of the Aldeburgh Festival. It also underscores the power of music to bring people together, regardless of age, and to foster a love for the arts that can be passed down from one generation to the next.
