17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken at the turn of the century, showcases Superintendent C.S. Egerton of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) outside Manchester Square fire station and divisional headquarters in London. The image marks a pivotal moment in the history of the fire service as motorised transport began to revolutionise the way emergency responses were carried out. Superintendent Egerton is seen here proudly posing next to his self-propelled vehicle, built in 1900, which was a significant departure from the traditional horse-drawn appliances that had been in use for decades. The vehicle, an early example of motorised transport in the London Fire Brigade, was fashioned to provide quicker and more efficient responses to fires and other emergencies. The Superintendent's hand rests on the tiller of the vehicle, adding a sense of control and command to the scene. The Edwardian-era attire of the senior officer, complete with peaked cap and tunic, further emphasises the historical significance of the moment. The Manchester Square fire station and divisional headquarters, which can be seen in the background, served as the hub of firefighting operations for the area. This photograph offers a unique glimpse into the early days of motorised transport in the London Fire Brigade, a time when tradition met innovation and the fire service began its transformation into a modern, motorised force. This photograph is part of the extensive collection of the London Fire Brigade held by Mary Evans Picture Library and is an invaluable resource for those interested in the history of the fire service and the evolution of emergency response vehicles.
