23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this thought-provoking image, a comparison of three casts of ancient human skulls invites us to contemplate the rich history and evolutionary journey of our species. From left to right, we see the cast of Homo erectus, specifically the Sangiran 17 fossil discovered in Sangiran, Java, dating back approximately 700,000 years. This early human species is recognized for its upright posture and advanced brain size compared to its predecessors. Next to it is a cast of a recent Homo sapiens skull from South East Asia. Homo sapiens, the modern human species, originated in Africa around 300,000 years ago and eventually spread across the world. The skull in this image represents the diversity of our species, which has thrived and adapted to various environments. Lastly, we have the cast of a Neanderthal skull from La Ferrassie, France, dating back around 50,000 years. Neanderthals, classified as Homo neanderthalensis, are our closest extinct relatives, sharing a common ancestry with Homo sapiens and Homo erectus. Neanderthals are known for their distinctive features, such as a prominent brow ridge and large nose, which were well-adapted to their cold European environment. This powerful image encourages us to reflect on the connections and differences between these ancient human ancestors. By studying their anatomy and comparing their fossilized remains, scientists can piece together the story of our evolutionary history and better understand the diversity of our shared human lineage.
