23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the entrance to Grove Park Hospital in Lewisham, South East London, a historic building that was originally constructed in 1899-1902 as a workhouse for the Greenwich Union. Designed by T. & J. Norman Dinwiddy, the architects behind many Victorian and Edwardian public buildings in London, the imposing structure stands proudly at the end of Marvels Lane, surrounded by lush greenery and a sense of tranquility that belies its past. The entrance gateway, with its ornate pillars and intricate stonework, is a testament to the grandeur and authority of the workhouse system that once housed and provided shelter for the poor and homeless. The once cold and unforgiving institution has since been transformed into a medical facility, offering treatment and care to those in need. The image transports us back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, a time when the social fabric of society was vastly different from what it is today. The communication towers on the roof of the building serve as a reminder of the technological advancements that were taking place during this period, contrasting sharply with the traditional architecture of the hospital. The entrance to Grove Park Hospital, with its rich history and intriguing past, is a fascinating glimpse into London's past and the evolution of social welfare and healthcare. The image invites us to reflect on the progress made in addressing poverty and homelessness, while also acknowledging the challenges that remain.
