FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This poignant and emotional print of "Goodbye, Old Man" by Fortunino Matania captures a heartbreaking moment during the First World War. The image shows a gunner saying farewell to his dying horse, highlighting the deep bond between man and animal even in times of war.
The original painting was created for the Blue Cross Fund, a charity that raised money to help animals affected by the conflict. In this scene, we see the gunner standing solemnly beside his loyal companion as they both face the harsh realities of battle.
The setting is on a desolate road near an artillery battery in Flanders, where both man and horse have been caught up in the chaos of war. The expression on the gunner's face is one of sorrow and regret, as he must bid farewell to his faithful friend who has been killed in action.
This sentimental and moving portrayal reminds us of the sacrifices made by not only soldiers but also their animal companions during times of conflict. It serves as a powerful reminder of the human-animal bond and how it transcends even in moments of tragedy.
"Goodbye, Old Man" is a piece of history that evokes strong emotions and pays tribute to those who fought bravely alongside their four-legged comrades during one of the darkest chapters in our past.
