23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite miniature portrays George II, the King of England from 1727 to 1760. Born on October 30, 1683, in Hanover, Germany, George II ascended to the British throne following the death of his grand-uncle, King William III. His reign marked a significant period in English history, as it saw the end of the War of the Spanish Succession and the beginning of the Seven Years' War. George II was a devoted monarch who took an active interest in the affairs of state. He was known for his strong leadership and his commitment to maintaining the balance of power in Europe. Despite his German heritage, he was popular among the British people, who appreciated his support for the Church of England and his efforts to improve the economy. This miniature, created during George II's reign, showcases the king's regal presence and impeccable attire. He is depicted wearing the Robe of State, a richly embroidered garment worn only on formal occasions, and the Imperial State Crown, which symbolized his dual role as King of England and Elector of Hanover. The intricate details of the miniature, from the delicate folds of the king's robes to the meticulously rendered embroidery, highlight the skill and artistry of the miniature painter. The miniature also serves as a reminder of the complex political landscape of the time. George II's reign was marked by the ongoing struggle for power between Britain and France, as well as the growing influence of the British colonies in America. Despite these challenges, George II remained a steadfast leader, navigating the complexities of international diplomacy and maintaining the stability of the British monarchy. This miniature is a precious reminder of a pivotal moment in English history, offering a glimpse into the life and reign of a king who played a crucial role in shaping the future of his country and Europe.
