FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative image captures the third Earl of Lucan, George Charles Bingham (1800-1888), a pivotal figure in British military history during the Crimean War. Born into the Anglo-Irish aristocracy, Bingham rose through the ranks to become a Major-General, earning distinction for his leadership and courage on the battlefield. However, his most controversial moment came during the Battle of Balaklava on October 25, 1854. In this fateful engagement, the Light Brigade, under the command of Lord Raglan, was ordered to charge against a Russian artillery battery, despite being outnumbered and outgunned. The charge, later known as the Charge of the Light Brigade, was a disaster, resulting in heavy losses and little strategic gain. Bingham, as the commander of the 11th Hussars, led his men into the fray, following the flawed orders of his superiors. Despite the debacle, Bingham was not held solely responsible for the failure of the charge. The complexities of military communication and the fog of war contributed to the misunderstood orders. Nevertheless, the incident left a lasting impact on Bingham's career and reputation. He continued to serve in the Crimean War, eventually retiring from the army in 1856. This photograph, taken during Bingham's later years, captures the somber wisdom of a man who bore the weight of history on his shoulders. The third Earl of Lucan, a military commander whose legacy is intertwined with the Charge of the Light Brigade, remains an intriguing figure in the annals of British military history.
