23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Daring Polyanitsa" by Ilya Repin, painted in 1872, is a captivating depiction of the harsh yet beautiful realities of winter travel in Russia during the 19th century. This evocative image is brought to life in the photograph "Travel by Sleigh in Russia" by F.G. Berenshtam, captured in 1901. In the foreground of Repin's painting, a group of women, bundled up against the cold, cling to the sides of a sleigh as it careens through the snowy landscape. Their faces are etched with determination and fear, as they brace themselves against the icy wind. The driver, dressed in a fur hat and thick coat, urges his team of horses forward, their breaths visible in the frigid air. Berenshtam's photograph captures a similar scene, with a sleigh being pulled by a team of horses through a snowy forest. The driver, dressed in traditional Russian attire, sits atop the sleigh, holding the reins with a firm grip. The horses, their breaths visible in the cold air, plod on, their hooves leaving deep prints in the snow. The use of black and white in Berenshtam's photograph adds to the sense of timelessness and historical authenticity. The image transports us back to a bygone era, when travel in Russia during the winter months was a daring and arduous undertaking. The photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and determination of the Russian people, who braved the harsh winter conditions to travel from one place to another. The painting and photograph, while different in medium, complement each other in their portrayal of the Russian winter and the spirit of perseverance it inspires. Together, they offer a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Russia, and the challenges its people faced in the past.
