17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This oil painting, titled "The Dinner Hour, Wigan" by English artist Eyre Crowe (1824-1910), transports us back in time to an outdoor scene in the industrial town of Wigan during the late 19th century. The sun casts a warm, golden glow over the group of people gathered outside, taking a break from their daily labors to enjoy their midday meal. The vibrant colors of their clothing and the rich textures of their table setting contrast beautifully with the muted tones of the brick buildings and the gray, industrial backdrop. Crowe masterfully captures the essence of community and the simple pleasures of life amidst the hustle and bustle of industrialization. The men, dressed in work clothes and hats, sit at long tables, while the women and children gather around, chatting and laughing. The sense of camaraderie and shared experience is palpable, as the group momentarily sets aside their daily toils to enjoy each other's company and a hearty meal. This painting, created in 1874, is a testament to Crowe's ability to depict the human condition with warmth, compassion, and a keen eye for detail. It is a reminder of the universal need for connection and the importance of taking time to savor the moments that bring us joy and nourishment, both physically and emotionally. "The Dinner Hour, Wigan" is an oil painting on canvas, currently housed in Manchester Art Gallery, United Kingdom. Its rich colors and intricate details continue to captivate viewers and offer a glimpse into the past, inviting us to reflect on the enduring power of community and the simple pleasures of life.
