17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking image captures the Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), in his full military regalia, wearing a cocked hat and carrying an army staff. The Duke, who rose to prominence as a British military and political leader, is best known for his victory in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, which ended the Napoleonic Wars. The cocked hat, a traditional headgear of the British Army, is made of black beaver fur and features a high crown, a small brim, and a cockade adorned with a white feather. The hat is held in place by a hatband and a chinstrap. The Duke's hat is also adorned with a badge of rank, a silver gorget, and a plume of white ostrich feathers. The army staff, carried by the Duke, is a symbol of his military authority and command. The staff is topped with a silver finial in the shape of a dragon or a lion, and it is decorated with various military insignia and medals. The Duke's staff also features a silver knob, which he would use to tap the ground as a sign of authority. The photograph was taken circa 1846, making it an important historical record of the Duke's military uniform and insignia during his later years. The image provides a glimpse into the grandeur and tradition of the British military during the 19th century and the legacy of one of its most celebrated leaders.
