23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Carrying a Heavy Load on the Head - Sudan" is an evocative photograph capturing the resilience and determination of the Sudanese people during the 1910s. The image portrays a man and a woman, both dressed in traditional Sudanese attire, skillfully balancing large baskets filled with goods on their heads. The man, with his ankles adorned with intricate bangles, appears to be straining under the weight of his load, while the woman, with her face expressionless and her body poised in perfect balance, carries her basket with an air of practiced ease. The photograph offers a glimpse into the daily life of the Sudanese people during this era, who relied heavily on manual labor for transportation. The baskets, which were often used to transport grains, water, or other essential commodities, were a common sight in Sudanese villages. The ability to carry heavy loads on one's head was not only a necessity but also a source of pride. Despite the challenging terrain and the weight of their loads, both the man and the woman in the photograph display a remarkable sense of balance and strength. Their postures convey a deep sense of focus and determination, as they navigate their way through their daily tasks. The photograph is a testament to the enduring spirit of the Sudanese people and their ability to adapt to the demands of their environment. The use of natural lighting and the stark contrast between the dark clothing of the subjects and the bright, sandy background add to the photograph's visual appeal. Overall, "Carrying a Heavy Load on the Head - Sudan" is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and determination of the human spirit, and a window into a bygone era.
