Move Rough Tank

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the moment of a British Mark IV Male tank making its way across the rugged terrain of northern France during the latter part of 1916. The First World War had reached its halfway point, and the introduction of these armored behemoths marked a significant turning point in the conflict. With their thick armor plating and powerful guns, these tanks provided a formidable advantage on the battlefield, allowing infantry to advance and break through enemy lines with greater success. The scene depicted in this image is likely set in the Somme region, where the British Army launched a major offensive in July 1916. The ground, covered in mud and debris, is a testament to the harsh conditions faced by soldiers during the war. The tank, with its large tracks, is expertly maneuvering over the uneven ground, demonstrating the impressive engineering and innovation that went into their design. The Mark IV Male tank, also known as the "male" due to its lack of a flotation tank, was the most widely used British tank during the First World War. It was armed with a 6-pounder gun and two machine guns, making it a formidable force on the battlefield. The tank's thick armor, weighing over 45 tons, protected its occupants from enemy fire, allowing them to advance and engage the enemy with greater confidence. This photograph serves as a powerful reminder of the pivotal role that tanks played in the history of warfare and the impact they had on the outcome of the First World War. The determination and resilience of the soldiers who operated these machines, combined with the ingenuity of their designers, ultimately changed the face of modern warfare and left an indelible mark on the world.
