23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite sketch, titled "Bauhinia divaricata L. bulls hoof" (Sketch 15), is an original drawing by the renowned 18th century botanical artist, Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708-1770). The illustration is part of a larger collection of 66 drawings held in the esteemed Botany Library at the Natural History Museum in London. Bauhinia divaricata, commonly known as the Bull's Hoof Orchid Tree or the Pata de Chivo (Goat's Foot), is a leguminous tree belonging to the Fabaceae or Leguminosae family. This eudicot angiosperm is characterized by its distinctive, orchid-like flowers, which are arranged in dense, flat-topped inflorescences. Ehret's meticulous drawing showcases the intricate details of the Bull's Hoof tree's flowers, revealing their unique structure and beauty. The illustration highlights the individual components of the flower, including the calyx, corolla, and stamens, providing a detailed record of this fascinating plant. As a member of the Rosid clade within the Eurosid subclass, Bauhinia divaricata is an important part of the Magnoliophyta, or flowering plants. Ehret's drawing serves as an invaluable historical record of this plant species, which continues to captivate botanists and nature enthusiasts alike. Georg Dionysius Ehret's artistic skill and dedication to botanical illustration are evident in this stunning sketch. The intricate details and precise shading reveal Ehret's mastery of the medium, making this drawing a true masterpiece of 18th century botanical art.
