17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite print showcases a captivating portrait of Angelica Kauffmann, a Swiss artist who made Rome her home in the late 18th century after spending several years in London. Born in 1741 in Switzerland, Kauffmann was a prolific artist known for her mastery of portraiture, history painting, and genre scenes. The image captures Kauffmann in an elegant octagonal frame, dressed in a long white gown adorned with intricate feather detailing. Her hair is styled in long, loose curls that cascade down her shoulders, adding to the ethereal quality of the portrait. The artist's expressive eyes and delicate features are captured with remarkable precision, conveying a sense of intelligence and creativity. The use of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to the image, highlighting the subtle textures of the feathers and the intricate details of the gown. Kauffmann's time in London, where she studied under the tutelage of Sir Joshua Reynolds, greatly influenced her artistic style. Her works often depicted historical scenes and mythological figures, reflecting the classical education she received in Switzerland and her exposure to the grandeur of the British art scene. After leaving London, Kauffmann settled in Rome, where she became a prominent figure in the artistic community. She was a founding member of the Confraternity of the Holy Immaculate Conception, a society of artists and intellectuals dedicated to promoting the arts and the Catholic faith. Kauffmann continued to produce a vast body of work throughout her long and distinguished career, which ended in 1807. This print serves as a testament to her enduring legacy as a groundbreaking artist and a pioneer of the Neoclassical movement.
