17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Three Castles,
EDITORS COMMENTS
a captivating 17th century painting by an unknown artist, showcases the breathtaking coastal landscape of Deal, Walmer, and Sandown in Kent, England. The trio of castles, Deal, Walmer, and Sandown, proudly stand guard against the backdrop of the vast, tranquil sea. The painting transports us back in time, offering a glimpse into the rich history of this area during the Stuart period. The defense structures, Deal, Walmer, and Sandown Castles, were built to protect the English coastline from potential invasions. Deal Castle, the oldest of the three, was constructed in the 1530s, while Walmer and Sandown Castles were added in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, respectively. The castles' strategic locations along the coastline, with Deal Castle facing the open sea and Walmer and Sandown Castles overlooking the Deal Bay, made them crucial fortifications during the era of maritime warfare. The painting captures the essence of the maritime community that thrived in this region. Ships and boats dot the sea, their sails billowing in the wind, while fishermen prepare their nets on the shore. The intricate details of the castles, from their battlements to their flags, are rendered with meticulous care, highlighting the artist's skill and dedication. The serene atmosphere of the painting contrasts with the potential danger that once lurked in the waters. The castles, ships, and boats serve as a reminder of the importance of defense and the vital role the maritime community played in protecting England during the Stuart period. "Three Castles" is not only a beautiful work of art but also a testament to the rich history of Deal, Walmer, and Sandown in Kent.
