Hand Held Ink And Colour On Paper Kiyonaga Kiyonaga Torii Torii Torii Kiyonaga Polychrome Woodblock Print

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this polychrome woodblock print by Torii Kiyonaga, titled "Three Young Women Strolling on the Bank of the Sumida River" we are transported to 18th century Japan during the Edo period. The artist's skillful use of ink and color on paper brings to life a scene filled with grace and elegance. Three young women, dressed in traditional kimonos, leisurely stroll along the picturesque bank of the Sumida River. Each woman holds a delicate hand-held fan, adding an air of sophistication to their presence. Their full-length figures exude poise as they navigate through a serene landscape. Kiyonaga's attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this artwork. From the intricate patterns on their garments to the subtle shading that gives depth to their faces, he captures not only their physical beauty but also their inner essence. This woodblock print is a testament to Kiyonaga's mastery of ukiyo-e, a popular art form during that time which depicted scenes from everyday life. It serves as a window into Japanese culture and heritage, allowing us to glimpse into a world long past. Now housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this piece continues to captivate viewers with its timeless charm and exquisite craftsmanship. As we gaze upon these three young women strolling by the riverbank, we can't help but be transported back in time and appreciate the enduring beauty found within Japanese artistry.
